PADI SPECIALTY INSTRUCTOR
As a PADI Instructor, you will expect your divers to dive more and have more fun. You will also encourage them to continue their education as a diver. After being an Advanced Diver & Rescue Diver, you will have divers who like to continue further with Specialty Diving. As an Instructor, it is also important to be able to offer a full range of PADI Specialty Courses. The PADI Specialty instructor courses provide valuable teaching tips for meeting the requirements of the course. Furthermore, with 5 Specialty Instructor Rating, you will be eligible to apply as a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer.

As an Instructor, encourage your student to continue their education and aim towards the goal of being a PADI Master Scuba Diver, it will also increase their diving knowledge, skills, confidence and the best part dive more.
WHAT ARE THE PREREQUISITES TO BECOME A PADI SPECIALTY INSTRUCTOR
Prerequisites All Specialties
- PADI Instructor, or currently participating in/completed an IDC/OWSI Program within the past 12 months. IDC/OWSI candidates may apply for Specialty Instructor certification only after successfully completing an IE.
Specialties Without Dives
- PADI Assistant Instructor
- PADI Divemaster for these courses: Emergency Oxygen Provider, Equipment Specialist, Coral Reef Conservation, Project AWARE Specialist and PADI Distinctive Specialty Diver (approved).
WHAT ARE THE PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
- Present a knowledge development presentation from the specialty diver course outline.
- State the purpose and goals of the specialty diver course.
- Explain the course standards and procedures from the PADI Specialty Course Instructor Guide.
- List student diver and instructor equipment requirements.
- Explain the specialty diver course open water training considerations.
- Demonstrate mastery of all knowledge development and water skill performance requirements for the specialty diver course.
- Conduct an open water teaching assignment and demonstrate all open water performance requirements for the specialty diver course. Skills may be combined as appropriate for open water training dives.
- Describe how to conduct all course segments in a manner that enables divers to meet course performance requirements.
- Describe successful marketing and promotional techniques to promote specialty diver training as part of the PADI System.
- Determine costs involved in the pricing of specialty training.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Logged at least 10 logged dives of the Specialty.
- All course requirements are met with the signature of a PADI Course Director.
- Payment of Application Fees of AUD$111.00 Per Specialty directly to PADI Asia Pacific Ltd.
DURATION OF THE COURSE
- Required dives for diver level is 2 - 3 dives, instructor level is only 1 dive.
- Required dives for diver level is 4 dives, instructor level is 2 dives.
- No more than 3 training dives a day.

- All Participants Are Required To Fill Up The PADI Release of Liability/ Assumption of Risk / Non-Agency Acknowledge Form Before Any Diving Activity.
- All Participants Are Required To Fill Up The PADI Standard Safe Diving Practices Statement of Understanding Before Any Diving Activity.
- All Participants Are Required To Fill Up The PADI Medical Statement Before Any Diving Activity.
- If There Are Any Pre-Existing Medical Conditions (Eg Asthma, Heart Conditions, Operations Etc) May Prevent You From Diving, Please Consult Your Doctor For A Medical Clearance Before Any Diving Activity.
- For Certified Divers, A Proof of Certification From Any Training Agency Is Required Before The Diving Activity.
- Divers Should Not Take Flight 12Hrs After Scuba Diving.
- Under 10Yrs Old Are Not Allow To Participate In The Program Except Bubble Maker Program (8 - 9Yrs Old) Conducted In Pool Only.
- For Children Between 10 - 11Yrs Old Going To Confined Water or Open Water, Parents or Guardian Must Review The Youth Diving Responsibility & Risks FlipChart As Well As Fill Up The Youth Diving Responsibility And Risks Acknowledgement Form Before Any Diving Activity.
- Cancellations Made BEFORE 1800hrs A Day Before The Scheduled Program/ Course/ Trip Are Fully Refundable.
- Cancellations Made AFTER 1800hrs A Day Before The Scheduled Program/ Course / Trip For ANY REASONS Are Refundable Subjected To 10% Service Fees.
- Cancellations Made On Day of The Scheduled Program/ Course / Trip For ANY REASONS Are Non-Refundable.
- If A Scheduled Program/ Course/ Trip Is Cancelled Due To Inclement Weather, Unsuitable Sea Conditions Or Unavailable Transportation As Determined By The Staff of Calypso Dive Center N Resort Are Fully Refundable.
